The Construction Technology pathway at Independence High School prepares you for a career in the construction industry and gives you a head start for college.  This hands-on construction trade program gives you the technical skills and opportunities to solve real-world challenges, both in the high school classroom and in the real world.

From job shadowing to national contests, you’ll interact with professionals and build both skills and confidence.  Whether you’re looking for career in carpentry, construction or architecture, the construction technology pathway at Independence High School gives you a great foundation for career, college and beyond.

Independence High School’s Construction Technology pathway teaches you to:

  • Safely operate industrial power and hand tools
  • Identify industry standard building products
  • Identify the various career opportunities in theconstruction industry and know “next steps” for pursuing such a career
  • Identify and understandcarpentry/woodworking procedures
  • Present yourself professionally in an interview

Can I get college credit?

Yes. While attending Independence High School’s construction trade pathway, you can earn up to 15 college credits through dual enrollment. We’ll also provide guidance and personal assistance to help you make a smooth transition to college.

What types of certification can I get?

  • CPR certification
  • OSHA safety certification
