I served as a Sales and Marketing intern at Booster Fuels.  My job responsibilities included analyzing trends and exploring cities where Booster Fuels could expand into.  I also researched companies that could be potential partners focusing on those with large fleets who could also benefit from a partnership with Booster Fuels.   It was such a valuable experience to be part a start-up in a fun environment.  It didn’t feel like a job, and it was a bonus that I was paid.

As an intern at NextFlex, I built and tested dummy flexible hybrids.  I also attended morning business meetings which helped me to increase my knowledge of how the business ran.  The communication and Excel skills I learned in my CTE classes prepared me for this opportunity, and I don’t think an opportunity like this would have come about for others my age had I not been a part of this program.

I greatly expanded my knowledge of accounting at ESUHSD as a general accounting intern.  I primarily used Excel and focused on data entry.  In addition, I reviewed time cards and prepared them for payroll while also helping to organize accounts payable.  This job really helped to enhance my resume not only with skills but with references.  Networking helped me to build a relationship with the Senior Accountant who is now someone I can connect with for future professional growth and also as a professional reference.

I was lucky enough to be placed at a start-up non-profit called OpeningDoors 2020.  I helped develop marketing designs and strategies.  I was allowed a lot of independence and was treated as a true professional.  I really enjoyed being part of the beginning steps of this start-up.  I created their logo and designed a mobile truck they used to feed the homeless.  I also maintained their social media website.  I’m grateful to have had this opportunity and highly recommend it to others.
