Biotechnology is the application of scientific advances in life sciences to create commercial products and services that enhance our world.

Employment opportunities in the biomedical industry and health related careers are growing rapidly in the Bay Area. Currently, U.S. biotechnology firms employ over 1.66 million people, but with the need for rapid innovation, the demand for skilled professionals will continue to rise. By enrolling in Oak Grove’s biotechnology pathway, you will gain practical experience and knowledge that will put you ahead of many others planning on entering this fascinating and rewarding field.

By the end of the program you’ll have:

  • Performed DNA extraction, purification, restriction digests, bacterial cell culture, and agarose gel electrophoresis.
  • Interpreted information and drawn conclusions to make informed decisions.
  • Used and monitored a variety of scientific equipment used in the field of biotechnology.
