Are you artistic? Do you want to do work that is both lucrative and creative? The Animation Pathway Mt. Pleasant High School helps you develop core animation skills as well as the real-world professional skills needed to succeed in college and a variety of creative fields in animation.

Participating in Mt. Pleasant High School’s trade program for the digital arts lets you use state-of- the-art software and produce traditional animation tests and short films. You’ll also be putting your skills to real-world use as you visit local animation studios and participate in the Bay Area Teen Animation Festival.

Mt. Pleasant High School’s Animation Pathway teaches you to:

  • Understand the principles of traditional/digital animation practices
  • Create characters, props and layouts using the principles of animation and technical aspects of traditional drawing
  • Produce traditional, digital and stop-action works of animation
  • Create a Professional Storyboard that shows appropriate camera moves, angles and staging
  • Produce an animation of at least 1-2 minutes
  • Have an online portfolio with a story told in traditional or digital animation

  • Art colleges and sketching field trips
  • Regional and national contests
  • Bay Area Teen Animation Festival, judged by Pixar and DreamWorks Animation
  • Working closely with SJSU Animation/Illustration Program at SJSU
  • Creating murals for the community
