How does this course serve the needs of the students?

The pathway helps students develop their leadership and problem solving skills by providing opportunities to develop critical thinking skills that enable them to fully participate in their local communities and global society.

The curriculum sharpens students’ communication skills, via the public speaking skills they develop through group collaboration and in-class presentations, so they can be better collaborators which help them become better community members where they gather perspectives to respond to challenges affecting their community. The pathway helps students process the world around them both on a local and national level so they can be effective agents of change.

The pathway helps students understand the existence and impacts of oppressive structures some have faced already, or will face in the future, and provides agency by teaching them to invest in change for the betterment of their communities.
